FIRST AID COURSES


STANDARD FIRST AID AND AED  (TWO DAY) 

This two-day course is designed for professional child care workers, but great for parents and all caregivers. This course includes emergency life saving skills and First Aid topics with a focus on children. The course includes Level C CPR (adult, infant, child and 2-rescuer resuscitation) and AED.

Emergency First Aid with CPR A and AED (One Day course)

A one day course in which students learn to recognize and provide  appropriate interventions for life-threatening emergencies until medical aid arrives. This includes CPR and choking for ADULTS, shock and unconsciousness, severe bleeding, head & spinal injuries, common medical conditions, and AED training and certification. This course will cover one full day and is evaluated with a physical skills component as well as theory component via multiple choice written exam. Physical skills are mandatory, if you cannot successfully demonstrate the skills on the day of the program you will not be successful in this course.

(note: Emergency First Aid with CPR C and AED is also a One Day course, and includes all of the above AS WELL AS - CPR and choking for CHILD and INFANT, as well as Two Rescuer CPR, it requires additional time)


 Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED (Two Day course)

A two day course that will include all of the skills listed in Emergency First Aid, in addition to first aid for other injuries and illnesses including fractures of the upper and lower limbs. This course covers a Level C CPR training and certification (Adult, Child, Infant, and 2-rescuer resuscitation) and AED training and certification. This course will cover two full days and is evaluated with a physical skills component as well as theory component via multiple choice written exam. Physical skills are mandatory, if you cannot successfully demonstrate the skills on the days of the program you will not be successful in this course.


 Standard First Aid with HCP CPR (Two Day course)

A program geared directly toward Health Care Providers/Professionals and covers all skills from the Standard First Aid in Emergency First Aid, but includes Health Care Provider CPR skills and additional cardiac and respiratory knowledge and skill. This course will cover two full days and is evaluated with a physical skills component as well as theory component via multiple choice written exam. Physical skills are mandatory, if you cannot successfully demonstrate the skills on the days of the program you will not be successful in this course.


HCP (Health Care Provider) CPR with AED (One Day course)

This course is designed for students already involved in, or looking to become involved in the Health Care industry. It is a pre-requisite for many Health Care Programs, and is required to be renewed annually in some industries. This program includes HCP level CPR plus additional skills in Artificial Respiration and use of a BVM (Bag Valve Mask). This course will cover one full day and is evaluated with a physical skills component as well as theory component via multiple choice written exam. Physical skills are mandatory, if you cannot successfully demonstrate the skills on the day of the program you will not be successful in this course.


Medical First Responder (MFR) Program (40 hour course)

This program is designed for First Response settings and has recently been approved for Volunteer Fire Departments participating in the new provincial MFR protocols. It is designed to enhance responders understanding of conditions, situations, and needs for more involved emergencies in which they may be caring for a casualty or patient for a longer period of time or during more difficult rescues. This course includes training to an HCP level of CPR, Oxygen Administration,  covers application of cervical collars for spinal motion restriction (backboards) protocols, more involved evaluation of vital signs, further information on respiratory emergencies, extrication situations, and better prep for First Response situations of many kinds. This program is recommended for anyone currently volunteering with a fire department, currently applying for or working for law enforcement agencies, handling sports teams as a designated First Aid response, or perhaps just wanting to enhance your personal knowledge and skills for an active lifestyle or future EMS endeavors.


This course is a 40 hr (class time) that can be provided over the course of 5 full days, or broken into two weekends to include Friday evening, Saturday/Sunday full days. There is required pre-study that must be done prior to attending the first schedule day of the program. Please contact us for more details or questions on this program. This program is very hands on with lots of floor work and practical skills evaluation. If you are not capable of demonstrating (with ease) the skills for the pre-requisite program you WILL NOT be successful in this program. 


Pre-requisite: Standard First Aid Level C CPR with AED current within one year of the first scheduled day.

Recommended: Standard First Aid with HCP CPR current within 6 months of the first scheduled day.
